LaMarche: 13 new episodes for 2012

After Katey 'Leela' Sagal announced in February that there would be more Futurama episodes, Maurice 'Morbo' LaMarche chimed in today to give further details:
13 new episodes have been ordered, with an additional 13 optional. This is apart from the 13 episodes that will air beginning in June, 2011, on Comedy Central.
While not an "official official" announcement, it does look a lot like Fry & Co will be staying on TV for a while.

On a related note, watch LaMarche congratulating William Shatner for his 80s birthday (and announce the Futurama deal).

UPDATE: Comedy Central confirms to have ordered 26 new episodes which gives us 13 episodes for the summer of 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Futurama Plush Dolls

I think it was one of the DVD commentaries where I heard Futurama exec-producer David X. Cohen talk about his wish to produce Futurama plush dolls. In the end, the high cost of producing these plush dolls caused him to drop that project.

It looks like Toynami was able to overcome the money issue!

All three are about 10 to 11 inches high and cost between $25 and $30.

Besides from amazon, they are also available from entertainment earth (for a few dollars less, but with shipping costs).

Sneak peak at new episodes

Hi all, sorry for the lack of updates recently, sometimes life just gets in the way...

A quick update for you:
The official Futurama page on Facebook recently passed a whopping 10 million fans and to celebrate teased us with 2 images from an upcoming episode of the next season (starting June).

I'd also like to point you in the direction of this great article about how the new animated movies are putting voice actors out of work, and perpetuating Hollywood's star system. Billy West is interviewed about it and as usual doesn't mince his words. You tell 'em Billy!
