Futurama: Bender's Big Score review

The YouTube Contest is still going until July 1st.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We hope to put everything back in place in a few days and are looking at a more permanent solution (but that will take a few weeks at least).

UPDATE: put the links back in place for now.

Two more Days until the Beast is released

It's now a mere two days until the second Futurama DVD movie The Beast with a Billion Backs (see our review) is released in the USA and Canada with the UK following a week later.

If you are planning on buying the DVD, you could do Futurama a favor by doing so before Tuesday and from amazon. Currently, The Beast with a Billion Backs is ranked as the the #4 bestselling DVD. According to my information, this number is closely watched by those who finance and produce Futurama and will be taken into consideration when it's time for deciding about the future of Futurama.

Futurama Cuts and Airdates

After a long while, we finally got an addition to our Lists & References section.

Matt Garvey sat through endless hours of watching every minute detail of Futurama to bring you his Futurama Cuts Guide for the Comedy Central showings of both the original Futurama run (1ACV - 4ACV) and for the first Futurama movie Bender's Big Score. In addition, he got usenet citizen Don Del Grande to give permission to post his guide to the original Futurama Airdates.

Feel free to contact Matt Garvey if you have any questions, corrections or suggestions. His email address is at the top of his guides.

The Beast with a Billion Backs Review

It has been half a year since the last Futurama movie made its way to DVD. Time to review "The Beast with a Billion Backs"! How does it compare to "Bender's Big Score"? It is somewhat different and yet very Futurama-esque. The plot is much more straightforward this time with no confusing time-travel paradoxes to puzzle out. Since I like puzzling out things, I liked "Bender's Big Score" a bit better. But Beast with a Billion Backs is not trailing by much.

The review mentions a few plot details but tries not to give too much away. Still, if you do not want to know anything about the plot before you have seen it, I suggest you just buy it. Don't think anyone visiting this site could be seriously disappointed.

Signed Futurama Cover Print Contest

Look what's to be won! I had a great 11" x 17" (28cm x 43 cm) print of the cover for the second Futurama movie "The Beast with a Billion Backs" in the mail yesterday. It's been signed by the executive producers David X. Cohen and Matt Groening, who also doodled a little Bender on it. Perfect for framing!

So, here is the deal.
Since we don't have a virtual Deathball game to figure out who should get it, we'll use YouTube instead. Your task: Create and upload a new video to the CGEFContests YouTube group by July 1st, 2008. The video must contain no footage of Futurama itself but must be Futurama related. You could reenact your favorite scene, show off that Zapp Brannigan costume you made or create a little finger puppet play. As long as it is Futurama related, it counts. Be creative and make it fun to watch!

The fine print:
  • You must be at least 13 years old and in case you aren't an adult yet, have permission of a parent or guardian to take part.
  • Again: The video must have no footage from Futurama itself!
  • It must be a previously unpublished video created by you, not something you found on the internets.
  • Make sure that your video is uploaded to the CGEFContests group on YouTube.
  • The winner will be picked by our one-woman-jury 'edel' and then contacted for shipping details.
  • The contest is not restricted to the US.
  • The winner will be contacted using the YouTube "send message" function. So make sure you remember your log in data.
